Quick Start Guide

Get TIDALBAY up and running in under 5 minutes. This guide will walk you through connecting your first integration and viewing employee security scores.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • A TIDALBAY account (start a free trial)
  • Admin access to at least one supported integration (Okta, Microsoft 365, etc.)

Step 1: Access the Admin Dashboard

After signing up, you'll be directed to the TIDALBAY admin dashboard. This is your central hub for managing employee security scores, configuring rules, and monitoring your organization's security posture.

Step 2: Connect Your First Integration

Navigate to Settings → Integrations and click Add Integration. For most organizations, we recommend starting with your identity provider (Okta or Azure AD) as it provides the most comprehensive security signals.

Connecting Okta

  1. Select Okta from the integration list
  2. Enter your Okta domain (e.g., yourcompany.okta.com)
  3. Generate an API token in Okta Admin Console
  4. Paste the token and click Test Connection
  5. Once verified, click Activate
Quick Tip
Okta webhooks provide real-time event streaming. We recommend enabling them for the fastest score updates.

Step 3: Import Employees

Once your integration is connected, TIDALBAY will automatically sync your employee directory. This typically takes 2-5 minutes depending on your organization size.

You can monitor the sync progress in Settings → Integrations. Each employee will be assigned an initial score based on your tenant configuration (default: 75).

Step 4: View Security Scores

Navigate to Employees to see your employee list with security scores. Each employee shows:

  • Current Score (0-100)
  • Score Band (Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Critical)
  • Recent Events affecting their score
  • Risk Factors contributing to their score
You're all set!
Your TIDALBAY instance is now collecting security signals and calculating employee risk scores in real-time.

Troubleshooting

Integration connection fails

Verify your API token has the required permissions. For Okta, the token needs read access to System Log and Users.

No employees appear after sync

Check the integration status in Settings. If the sync shows errors, verify your credentials and network connectivity.

Scores not updating

Ensure webhooks are configured for real-time updates. Without webhooks, TIDALBAY polls for new events every 5 minutes.
